There is a joke among insurance professionals that no one plans to end up in insurance, it just sort of happens. That seems to hold true for most people in the industry. This month, our employee spotlight highlights Kenneth Trexler, an account manager for our Pennsylvania office. We asked Kenneth a few questions to help you get to know him better.

How long have you been working for ASL?

I have been working at ASL for just over three years. I started as a temp in our processing department. I worked my way up and eventually moved to underwriting, where I started as an assistant account manager. I was promoted to an account manager in February 2017.

How did you end up working in the insurance industry?

Honestly, I started working in the insurance industry by chance. Right after I graduated from college, I started working for a big litigation law firm. The firm let me go after a couple of years, and I was unemployed for a few months. I decided to apply to a staffing agency. The day after I applied to the agency, I had an interview with ASL. Here I am now!

Tell us a little bit about your region.

I am the account manager for our Pennsylvania office. We mainly write business in Pennsylvania, but are slowly expanding our markets to include Ohio and New Jersey.

What do you like about working at ASL?

I love the work environment we have at ASL. The people and vibe are all around great. Although we take our work very seriously, you can tell there is mostly a very relaxed feeling around the office.

What do you like to do in your free time? what are your hobbies?

I love being in nature. Richmond has a lot of hiking and jogging trails and, of course, the river. Other than spending time outdoors, my hobbies include cooking, traveling and going to concerts.
